Principal
Scott Janzen is the president and founder of Catalyst Real Estate. Having dedicated his career to commercial real estate, Scott is a veteran of real estate cycles, and has managed assets and workouts through the last severe down cycle in the early 1990s. He has acquired and developed properties and portfolios, formed and unwound joint ventures and managed, repositioned, financed and sold assets up to $450 million in value. Mr. Janzen has experience in office, industrial, retail, multi-family and hotel product, with transaction volume of over $2 billion. During his career, Scott has acquired and structured investments in over five million square feet of commercial property and 2500 apartments.
Most recently, he was responsible for the Apollo Value Enhancement Funds’ northeastern assets and acquisitions, with direct responsibility for $1 billion in assets. In this position, Scott acquired properties, entered into and restructured joint ventures, arranged financings, disposed of assets and asset managed the wholly owned and joint venture portfolio. Previously, Scott headed Lend Lease Real Estate Investments’ Philadelphia office, where he led the acquisitions and lending team and also had overall responsibility for asset management of properties throughout the mid-Atlantic. Prior to Lend Lease, he worked in asset management, development, lending and dispositions as a vice president with Equitable Real Estate Investment Management. Scott also held project management roles with a mixed use developer and in a construction management company. Scott is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University (B.S.) and the University of Pennsylvania (MBA). He is a regular guest lecturer in the Wharton MBA real estate program.
